ABS is the better choice when you need maximum rigidity, a premium glossy finish, and high impact strength at room temperature; PP wins when you need lower weight, moisture and chemical resistance, and a lower unit cost. Most professional protective-case lines use both, matching the resin to the job — which is exactly how the JUNZHIJIA catalog is organized.

Two Materials, Two Personalities

ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is a stiff engineering plastic with a hard, glossy surface that takes logos and finishes well. PP (polypropylene) is a semi-flexible polymer that bends before it breaks, shrugs off water and chemicals, and weighs less. Both are injection-molded into protective cases, but they behave differently in the field.

Property-by-Property Comparison

Glossy rigid protective case shell showing surface finish quality
Surface finish is part of material choice: ABS delivers a glossy, scratch-tolerant shell.
PropertyABSPP (Polypropylene)
Tensile strength40–50 MPa30–38 MPa
Density / weight≈1.05 g/cm³ (heavier)≈0.90 g/cm³ (about 15% lighter)
Surface finishGlossy, scratch-tolerant, premium lookMatte, slightly softer touch
Moisture absorptionLow, but higher than PP≈0.01% — virtually waterproof as a material
Chemical resistancePoor against strong solventsExcellent against most acids, alkalis, solvents
Heat deflection≈98 °CLower for standard grades; heat-resistant grades available

When ABS Is the Right Call

  • Presentation matters — sales-demo kits, camera and electronics cases where a glossy, hard shell looks and feels premium
  • The case takes point impacts and drops at room temperature and must not deform
  • Tight dimensional stability is needed for precision-molded details and metal hardware mounting
ABS and PP case assembly and customization at the factory
Both resins are molded and assembled in-house, so wall thickness and latch geometry are tuned per material.

When PP Is the Right Call

  • Weight is critical — airline travel, one-person carry, and large wheeled cases
  • The environment is wet, marine, or chemically aggressive — PP is the default for gun cases, marine equipment, and outdoor industrial use
  • Budget matters at volume — PP keeps unit cost down on large orders without giving up impact toughness

What This Looks Like in a Real Catalog

In the JUNZHIJIA range you can see the split in practice: PP is used for heavy-duty lines such as the 8 Series gun and equipment cases, where moisture resistance and weight matter, while ABS appears in models such as the WL6-6232 wheeled case, where a rigid, hard shell is preferred. Both resins are molded in-house, so wall thickness, ribs, and latch geometry are tuned per material rather than copied across.
